Helping Cameron with his maths!
In these times of austerity I was wondering if we as a community can't do our own little bit to help the government plot their way out of the financial mire ......... considering the ministry of justices coming cutbacks, they will have to trim something out of the system as they can't afford to pay for the existing setup, to make cutbacks some things will have to drop under the prosecution radar as there won't be enough funding to keep the current status.
Looking at potential savings, how much money is wasted in the incarceration of cannabis growers and dealers? How much money is wasted in the court system? How many pig hours are spent issuing fines, cautions, and pursuing the pot growers and dealers? How much on "rehab"? How much on propaganda? I wouldn't advocate offering it up as a Tax revenue as some are doing on the repeal website but if it was a legitimately traded commodity then there would be a nice VAT income for the commercial outlets even if the cost dropped which it would I reckon.
So anyone have any idea on these figures?.... also how much do we already contribute to the economy through our support of the growroom supply companies and our favoured leccy suppliers?
There are nearly as many brits smoking cannabis in a year as there are people living in wales, there are less Muslims in britain than occasional tokers, by comparing with similar sized definable groups such as these we can see how significant a group we are, even though we have no voice or legitimacy. Anyway I thought it was worth opening as a discussion: can the UK afford to persecute cannabis smokers anymore?
